The QA Supervisor at CF Rail Services will lead and coordinate all quality assurance activities to ensure compliance and achieve Quality Assurance Program goals.

As a QA Supervisor, Here's What You'll Do:

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the quality assurance programs within the CF Rail Services by ensuring the program is maintained and executed in accordance with the Association of American Railroads (“AAR”), manual of standards and recommended practices, specification for quality, and related AAR rules and technical standards.
  • Continuously review quality assurance standards, reports and all related documents for compliance.
  • Implement solutions for improving current programs to ensure regulatory requirements and customer expectations are met.
  • Monitor company quality standards and requirements on all work that is performed.
  • Perform audits to ensure established quality standards are adhered to.
  • Assist in coordinating, and actively participating in quality audits, customer audits, M-1003, M-1002, FRA/AAR, etc.
  • Review and analysis of data collected during internal/external audits, NCR’s, in-process and outbound inspections. Provide detailed report to operations team.
  • Participate in quality related investigations and communicate appropriate findings to operations team.
  • Ensure that all nonconforming conditions are addressed through corrective and preventable actions.
  • Assist in follow up on corrective actions issued from nonconforming conditions; assist facility leadership team to determine root cause. Partner with local team to implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions, ensuring that all corrective actions are completed timely.
  • Oversee employee certification and training requirements.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration compliance.
  • Work closely with Operation leadership team, as well as other production supervision to resolve any matters that affect the quality of the repair work performed at their location.
  • Wear PPE in appropriate areas.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High School Diploma. Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in related field.

Skills

  • Root cause problem solving ability-understand and apply problem solving skills to seek continuous improvement in all work processes and demonstrated track record of results (process improvement).
  • Effective communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Railcar repair procedures, customer requirements & quality assurance manuals
  • Strong Industry knowledge (AAR M-1003, M-1002, Field Manual, FRA, and Transport Canada)
  • Teach compliance to the industry requirements (AAR, FRA, etc.)
  • Teach and resolve questions related to the AAR Field manual inspection and repair requirements.
  • Understand the correct requirements of welding process variables and proper procedure usage and documentation.
  • Auditing of special processes such as welding operations and welding equipment.
  • Strong computer skills for scheduling, communicating, and reporting.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools.

Physical Requirements

Work assignments involve standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, crawling, and crouching in strained and awkward positions for prolonged periods of time at various heights up to 20 feet. Uses hands, legs, and arms to climb vertical ladders to staging or suspended platforms. Lifts, carries, and sets up equipment and components that weigh up to 50 lbs. Employee must be medically certified to wear a respirator, as well as be able to wear respirators for prolonged periods of time.

Work Environment

  • Work will be performed outdoors and indoors, on and around heavy equipment.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or varied shifts to meet the demands of the business.
